Spring Migration 2026 Begins – With a Fresh New Look

The BirdCast Team is pleased to welcome you back to our suite of migration tools for Spring 2026!

Frequent visitors may notice that BirdCast has a fresh new look. Over the winter, we’ve worked hard to redesign and improve the structure of our website, making it easier than ever to navigate and access the information you need.

The beating heart of BirdCast remains our migration toolsforecasts, live maps, alerts and your local migration dashboard—which are all back online as of March 1. This date marks our traditional kickoff to the spring migration season, when radar data begins to show steadily increasing numbers of birds on the move.

Our new Science Center brings into one place background information on the field of radar aeroecology and the study of bird migration, including detailed insights into the peak migration periods for every county in the contiguous United States. In addition, our new section Protect Birds! offers practical guidance on how to give migratory birds safe passage through our skies and urban landscapes, made possible through generous contributions from the Bird Collision Prevention Alliance.

We hope you enjoy exploring the redesigned site, and we look forward to sharing more updates soon. Stay tuned, and enjoy this spring’s migration!
